For Admissions To Nursery, Parents Doing The Prep

News Information

After struggling to pick up registration forms for nursery admissions, parents are now spending extra hours to prepare themselves for the next round-of interviews. From honing their communication skills to making themselves more presentable, parents are trying it all, just to ensure that their child is admitted to a high-profile city school. While interviews at Loreto Convent will be held from December 5-7 from 9 am onwards, at St Agnes' Loreto Day School, the interaction is scheduled from November 21-23 from 9.30 onwards. The list of candidates having qualified for interview at La Martiniere Boys College will be put up on the notice board on December 18. Interviews will be held in January and February. At La Martiniere Girls College, the interviews are likely to be held in the first week of January. For the past six months, daily routine for Bhargava's has changed completely. Even before Abhinav and Shikha's son could get admission to nursery, they are following the school schedule. Both parents and the child wake up early in sync with the school timings. Following the school routine, Shikha dresses up their son and serves him breakfast. Before this, he says a little prayer. Soon after breakfast, he starts rattling the alphabet and numbers. All this became the norm after the child joined grooming classes. "Without any instructions, our son greets us in the morning and at night. He has even started understanding the language and conversing in English. His diction has improved and he speaks confidently. The best part is he doesn't fumble,'' said Shikha. The child has been taught even to touch his grandparents' feet every day and seek their blessings.Another couple, Usha and Manish Srivastava have joined English speaking classes which they attend on alternate days. Following the schedule rigorously, parents are given homework and asked to complete assignment. "We are busy on week days, so assignments are kept for weekends,'' said Usha. Their daughter is undergoing grooming sessions. She is now dealing perfectly with her toilet habits," said Usha.To put a check on their son's hyper-activeness, Barkha and Amit Garg have a tutor at home. "Our son is bright but he speaks too much. His interaction level is too high which can be a drawback during the interview. So we now have a lady teacher to groom him on this front,'' said Barkha. For fluent English, the child is made to see cartoons in English language.
